Vermaat Groep

Vermaat is een van de grootste contractcateraars van Nederland, met zo'n 700 restaurants in de zakelijke, zorg- en horecasector. Beslissingen over personeelsplanning en inkoop, de twee grootste kostenposten, werden per locatie genomen op basis van onderbuikgevoel. Wij legden de datafundering en bouwden de eerste machine learning-modellen om deze centraal te ondersteunen, op Azure met Databricks en Fabric. Vermaat beschikt nu over een werkende analytische basis die datagedreven besluitvorming over het volledige netwerk mogelijk maakt.

Vermaat is one of the largest contract catering companies in the Netherlands, operating around 700 restaurants across corporate, healthcare and hospitality locations. Decisions on staffing and procurement, the two largest cost drivers, were made per location based on gut feeling. We built the data foundation and the first machine learning models to support these decisions centrally, on Azure with Databricks and Fabric. Vermaat now has a working analytical foundation that enables data-driven decision-making across its full network.

NS (Nederlandse Spoorwegen)

NS vervoert dagelijks meer dan een miljoen reizigers. Het bestaande drukteproduct was door jarenlange doorontwikkeling complex geworden, terwijl dezelfde data ook slimmere reisadviezen mogelijk maakte die nog niet werden benut. Wij vereenvoudigden de modellen en infrastructuur achter het drukteproduct, en initieerden en leidden de uitbreiding naar spreidingsvoorspelling: waar in de trein nog ruimte is. Dit werd direct geïntegreerd in de NS-reisplanner, met concrete instapadviezen voor reizigers als resultaat.

NS moves over a million travelers per day. The existing crowdedness product had grown complex over years of iteration, while the same data also enabled smarter travel recommendations that went unused. We simplified the models and infrastructure behind the crowdedness product, and initiated and led its extension into dispersion prediction: identifying where in the train there's space. This fed directly into the NS travel planner, giving travelers concrete boarding recommendations.

Brenntag

Brenntag, wereldwijd distributeur van chemische producten, was bezig met de opbouw van een federatieve datamesh: decentraal eigenaarschap van data, ondersteund door centrale dataproductteams. Wij bepaalden visie, missie en standaarden voor deze centrale teams, wierven 10 data-professionals voor twee teams, en bouwden een cross-team roadmap op basis van de prioriteiten van stakeholders in de organisatie. Resultaat: twee functionerende centrale dataproductteams met een gedeelde visie en een roadmap die direct aansluit op de business.

Brenntag, a global distributor of chemical products, was building a federated data mesh: decentralized data ownership supported by central data product teams. We set the vision, mission and standards for these central teams, recruited 10 data professionals into two teams, and built a cross-team roadmap based on stakeholder priorities across the organization. Result: two functioning central data product teams with a shared vision and a roadmap tied directly to the business.

Karim Bennani

Ik ben Karim Bennani, oprichter van Bennani Consulting. Met ruim 15 jaar ervaring in data en AI begeleid ik organisaties zowel op strategisch niveau als in de uitvoering, met oog voor zowel de langetermijnvisie als de techniek die het mogelijk maakt.

Bennani Consulting guides organizations through data & AI challenges, from initial idea to working product. We contribute at a strategic level, but also take responsibility for the build: we deliver something the organization can actually keep building on.
